My hubby and I just watched The Amazing Spider-Man movie, and I have to say, it’s definitely different from any Spider Man story I’ve ever read. Don’t get me wrong, the movie was great. Full of unexpected twists that were different enough to make this one unique. Which brings me to today’s Editor’s Choice weekend post:
3 Things You Can Learn About Content From The Amazing Spider-Man
Be Prepared. For some reason, we don’t yet know, Peter’s father had to leave him with Uncle Ben (played by Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (played by Sally Field). What we do know is he was prepared to do what he had to do to protect his son’s life. Being prepared to protect your content (your intangible assets) and have procedures in place for when *it happens is very important. Make sure you have policies for what happens when people leave your company. You also want to be prepared by backing up your content regularly. Read our post for more tips on creating a Social Media policy.
Keep It Interesting. This movie no doubt has some unique angles to make it stand out from the same old Spidie movies. The cast is a bit different, the evil villain is different and Spider Man’s love interest even has a different name. Although I’m not so sure I like the name “Gwen” better than “MJ.” However, the takeaway here is two-fold: First, don’t be afraid to change things up a bit so you stand out from the crowd. And secondly, don’t get too far away from your main focus that people don’t remember what it is you do. For example, if you are a financial planner, it’s okay to blog about cats, just tie it to how people with pets live longer and therefore need to have a solid plan for a longer life. You might even share information on how much it really costs to own a pet.
Remember, The People Are Counting On You. Uncle Ben reminded Peter what it means to be responsible. Spider Man’s responsibility to protect the people of his community is what fueled his will to be a super hero. When you see your content as providing a solution to someone’s problem, you will realize that you can’t just stop producing content. Every blog post, Facebook update, Tweet and video share is important. We are counting on you to educate us about your company’s products and services. Show us practical and new ways that we can benefit from what you have to offer. Don’t let us down. Keep the content coming. And keep it fresh.
Have you watched the movie yet? I intentionally didn’t want to give away too much of it in case you haven’t seen it. I hope I didn’t spoil it for you. Go see it and come back and let me know if you liked it as much as I did. Oh, one thing I will say, don’t get up when the movie is done, there is a really cool twist after the credits. 🙂[block] [/block] [block]
