More Tips for Sharing on Twitter
Sharing Images & Videos
When you share images and videos on Twitter, the platform will embed the video or image with a hyperlink or URL. The URL will take about 23 characters. So, leave plenty of characters in your caption/update so your Tweet doesn’t get cut off.
Shorten Long URL’s
Twitter will automatically cut off or truncate links longer than 23 characters. Though the link is still clickable, it’s no longer visible or descriptive. Use a link shortening service like Bitly.com or TinyURL.com to keep your links nice and clean.
Customize Your Twitter Timeline With Colors To Match Your Branding
Customize the color of your Profile Links, Hashtags & Navigation bar in the Design Panel.
To Access The Design Panel: Go To Profile > Settings > Design > Theme Color. And choose a color to match your branding. Make sure the color is dark enough to see on a white background.
What Happened To The Background Image on Twitter Profiles?
It looks like Twitter is phasing out the use of a background image. When you view your profile as a user sees it, there is no background. However, when you view your profile in the ‘Edit Profile’ panel, the background is still visible. Just in case Twitter decides to go back to using profile backgrounds, I recommend choosing a solid color – skip the image – that matches your branding.
Record Videos In The Twitter App
Video sharing just got more awesome on Twitter! As of Jan. 2015, Twitter now allows you to record and edit 30-second videos in the Twitter App. Just point, shoot and share. As of this post (Feb 2015), Apple (ios) app users can also upload pre-recorded videos directly to their timeline – this feature will be released soon for Android uses as well.
